Newborn Care
Newborn care at RTC Pediatrics begins in the hospital and continues in our office as part of your baby's complete care. Your baby's first checkup takes place within two weeks of leaving the hospital. During this visit, your pediatrician checks your baby's weight, length, and head size, reviews feeding, sleep, and diaper habits, and performs a full physical exam and developmental check. Required newborn screening tests are done right in our office, so there's no need for a separate trip to the hospital. These visits also give you time to ask questions about bathing, feeding, sleep, or anything else on your mind. Our lactation consultants are here to support breastfeeding families during the early weeks.
Immunizations
Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to protect your child from serious illness. At RTC Pediatrics, we follow the recommended
immunization schedule to protect your child from infancy through the teen years. Your baby's first round of vaccines begins at the two-month well visit and protects against diseases such as polio, hepatitis B, rotavirus, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae, and pneumococcus. Doses are repeated over the first 18 months so your infant is fully protected. We also offer Beyfortus to help protect babies from RSV. Our providers are happy to answer your questions about vaccines, and you can review our vaccine policy and immunization schedule on our website.
Other Pediatric Services
Beyond newborn care and routine checkups, RTC Pediatrics offers a
wide range of pediatric services to meet your child's changing needs. Our providers perform ADHD evaluations and continue treatment after diagnosis, and we offer a complete asthma and allergy management program. We work with community mental health providers to support children with anxiety, depression, attention concerns, and school problems. Families of children with chronic conditions or disabilities receive coordinated support through our chronic care management services.

When should my newborn have their first visit?
Newborn AppointmentYour baby's first newborn care visit should take place within two weeks of leaving the hospital. After that, your baby will see the pediatrician again at one and two months of age, and then on a regular well child schedule.
Do you offer breastfeeding support for new parents?
Lactation ConsultationYes. Our lactation consultants, including an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), help breastfeeding moms and babies with latching, feeding concerns, and other challenges during the early weeks and beyond.
What is your vaccine policy?
ImmunizationsWe believe childhood immunizations are one of the safest and most effective ways to protect children from serious vaccine-preventable diseases. Our practice follows the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
